New terminal in Muuga

    Rail Garant of Russia has started outfitting its new 600-metre container Terminal at Tallinn’s Muuga harbour, which is to enter operations by the first quarter of 2013.



    Last year Rail Garant won a tender for development of the new container terminal in Muuga and signed respective agreement with the Talinn port administration.



    On Jan. 30rd the first pile of the berth wall was hammered in.



    As reported by Rail Garant board member Nikolay Filin, in 2012 the first stage of the terminal must be completed, including crane rails, railway lines, and civil engineering infrastructure.



    Delivery and erection of gantries must be finished by the year end. The first shipments are expected to reach the terminal in the Q1’ 2013.



    Rail Garant envisages that by the Q4’2013 monthly throughput of the terminal must grow till 10 000 TEU, in 2014 the terminal handling is forecast at 125 000 TEU – full capacity of the terminal’s first stage.
