Maersk strengthens "Ecumed"

10 January 2012

Maersk Line is to boost the capacity of its reefer-oriented Ecuador-Panama-Black Sea 'Ecumed' service. Launched in September 2011,  the service has since been operated with a fleet of eight high reefer capacity ships of 2,500 teu. These vessels are currently being re-placed by ships of 2,800-3,200 teu. The 'Ecumed' connects Guayaquil directly with Spain, Turkey and the Black Sea, focusing in particular on Ecuador's banana exports.
