Hapag-Lloyd Hike Rates on Far East Services

Next phase of German carrier's rate restoration program takes effect in March
Hapag-Lloyd will impose a series of general rate increases on Far East services in March, as part of the German carrier’s rate restoration program.
The company said rates on cargo shipped from Far East Asia, excluding Japan, to all destinations in North Europe and the Mediterranean, excluding South and West Africa, will go up by $750 per 20-foot equivalent unit, starting March 1.
From the Mediterranean to the Far East and the Middle East, the carrier will apply an increase of $100 per TEU, also effective March 1. The Middle East includes destinations in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea region.
