Container handling of Ukrainian ports in Q1’ 2012

In the Q1 2012 ports of Ukraine handled 157 662 TEU, which is 5,2% lower than in the same period of 2011.
Reduction of volumes occurred mainly due to -31,6% slump in Iliychevsk seaport. The port handled in the Q1 just 46 221 TEU.
Odessa seaport (terminals HPC and Brooklin-Kiev) handled in the first three month almost as much as a year ago - 95 221 TEU (+1,1%).
The biggest growth among Ukrainian terminals was achieved the Fishery port of Iliychevsk – the terminal handled 9 877 TEU (+ 294% YoY).
Despite the recession in Q1, March throughput of Ukrainian ports showed some signs of recovery – container volumes went up by 9,4% above February, to 56 633 TEU.
